The Best Dog Bowl

At Basis Pet, we've worked hard to create the best dog bowl around. We started by sourcing the safest materials, adopted a smart design, and supported it all with great customer service.

All of our bowls are:

  • 100% Made in the USA from 18/8 U.S. Sourced Stainless Steel
  • Produced to the same or higher standards than bowls for human use
  • Independently Tested for Lead, Mercury, and Cadmium. Screened for radioactivity.
  • Dishwasher Safe & Easy to Clean by Hand
  • Have a 5-star product rating
  • Supported by a small, family owned business that's been around for nearly 10 years

Best Materials and Safe Manufacturing

Stainless steel is regarded by most to be the best material for dog food and water bowls. It's both durable and easy to keep clean. Plastic quickly accumulates scratches and can't be kept clean. Ceramic can be great when new, but needs to be replaced if even small cracks or chips in its finish appear. Some ceramic glazes contain lead. And glass? Well just imagine dropping a glass bowl full of food in front of a hungry dog.

Not all stainless steel is equal, though. Some foreign made stainless steel pet bowls have been found with high levels of lead and some were even recalled for being 'slightly' radioactive.

We use only US made stainless steel. It's a heavy weight, durable, 22 gauge material. Prior to use, all of our stainless steel must pass an extensive metallurgical analysis that confirms it's a high quality, 304 series (sometimes called 18/8) stainless steel. Our bowls are 100% Made in the USA in a facility that typically makes human grade products for the healthcare and food industries. After manufacture, each batch of bowls is tested for lead, mercury, and cadmium by an independent lab that is third party accredited by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). You can view the test results covering current inventory here. We also screen each batch for radioactivity. No 'pet use only' labels here - our bowls are safe for people, too!

Smart Design, Smart Look

The Basis Pet Stainless Steel Dog Bowl has a number of smart design features and a smart look. The straight sides help to keep food and water where it belongs - in the bowl. The rounded bottom corners make it easy for your dog to get every last drop of food and help to make cleanup a cinch for you. The open rim provides access for cleaning. We've left off any plastic or rubber coatings. While these can be useful over the short term, they inevitably wear out faster than stainless steel and decrease product life. Check out our bowl accessories if you need a non-skid option.

Sizing

Tip! When selecting the best bowl size, it's important to consider not just the capacity of the bowl (how much food or water it holds), but also the size of the bowl relative to the size of your pet. Bowls that are undersized for your pet may have stability issues.
